the innocence

So I checked out Hatsukoi Gentei, subbed by the ones who also brought us Itazura na Kiss, m.3.3.w. I do appreciate that they try to sub shows that may not be as popular because shows like ItaKiss and this new one are actually fun to watch.

As I said before, the character design screams Ichigo 100%, but perhaps the lighter colours and lines made a better impression. It might be the way that Ichigo 100% was animated was too ‘heavy’ for me. Well, the whole premise of Hatsukoi is so fluffy anyway.

The setting brings back memories of my childhood (man I feel old). Not that I had the same experience necessarily, but it’s the innocence and the idealistic expectations that tickle my heart.

One thing that surprised me was that they were middle schoolers. I kinda expected them to be high schoolers, most likely because many shows feature them… or maybe because I somehow feel that I can better relate to characters closer to my age (which is true for Eden), but I suppose this story fits characters of a younger age. And I mean, I still enjoyed watching it, so it’s not a big deal.

I will be looking forward to the coming eps :)
